Republican Party Racha on possible attack on Iran

The White House reported that President Donald Trump will decide “within two weeks” If you will make an attack on Iran’s military and nuclear facilities, in support of the offensive that Israel started on the 13th.

The question cracks the Republican Party, caption of the US agent. In an X post, Mrs Marjorie Taylor Greene, one of the Maga (acronym for “Make America Big again”, Trump’s electoral staff) in the US Chamber, said the country should not directly interfere with the conflict Iran x Israel.

“Americans want cheap gas, food and housing. They want accessible health insurance, safe communities and good education for their children. They want a government that works on these issues,” Greene wrote.

“Considering that Americans finance the entire government and government wages with sweaty money from taxes, that’s where our focus should be on any war abroad,” added the deputy.

Another republican deputy, Thomas Massie, presented a resolution proposal to veto the involvement of the United States in the conflict.

“This is not our war. But if it were, Congress should decide such issues according to our Constitution,” he said.

Tucker Carlson, one of the conservative communicators most associated with Trump, also opposes an American attack on Iran and went viral with an excerpt from an interview he did this week with Senator Ted Cruz, in which the parliamentarian could not answer what the country’s population is.

“Don’t you know what the population of the country you want to defeat?” Carlson replied, indignantly.

On the other hand, a large part of Republicans support an intervention by the United States in the conflict. According to ABC News, Senator Lindsey Graham said an American attack should be performed if there is no diplomatic solution.

“Or you want them [Irã] Have a nuclear weapon, or not, ”said Graham.“ And if you don’t want to, if diplomacy fails, you use the strength, ”he said.

Another Republican Senator Kevin Cramer said he would support Trump’s decision to “help Israel do the service,” but said it is in favor of a direct attack.

“Iran made it very clear. They promised to annihilate the United States of America. I prefer not to let them get here,” said Cramer. “I prefer to prevent a war from having to end it after it reaches our territory, right?”

A survey by the JL Partners Institute, released by the conservative newspaper The New York Post, showed that support for an American offensive against Iran is much greater among Republican voters than among those who call themselves “traditional”.

Among Republicans who most strongly support Trump, 65% said they were favorable to a possible attack on Iran and only 19% are opposed.

On the other hand, among the “traditional” republicans, the percentages of those who support and reject an offensive were 51% and 28%, respectively.

Trump tries to balance himself between these two groups within the party: on Wednesday (18), he said he had spoken to Carlson by telephone and that the communicator would have apologized for saying “things a little too strong.”

“I asked Tucker, ‘Well, do you agree that there are nuclear weapons in the hands of Iran?’” Trump told journalists at the White House Oval Hall.

“And he kind of didn’t like it. And I said, ‘Well, if you agree, then you and I have a divergence.’ But he really doesn’t agree [que o Irã tenha armas nucleares]”, Added the president.
