Middletown Township police are still looking for a man who allegedly shot another man in a “targeted” incident at a bus stop outside of the Oxford Valley Mall on June 19.
After receiving hospital treatment for a stab wound to the arm and a single shot to the elbow, the unidentified victim, a Trenton resident, was released from the hospital over the weekend, Middletown police said June 23.
The investigation is ongoing, according to Det. Lt. Steve Forman, but is complicated by the fact that the victim has not yet identified the shooter to law enforcement.

“There’s a lack of cooperation which is hindering the rapid arrest with this so we’re having to work other methods … to identify who the shooter is and unfortunately its taking longer than anybody wants,” Forman said.
The incident kicked off a hectic scene at the shopping center on Thursday evening after the shooter was seen fleeing toward the nearby Atlee Square apartments while the victim ran inside the shopping center.
This prompted a complete lockdown at the mall while they underwent active shooter protocol. The nearby Sesame Place theme park was also evacuated as a precaution
After a two-hour search, law enforcement finally cleared the the mall and confirmed that the shooter had fled the scene.
While there was luckily no active shooter to contend with within the mall, Forman said, the situation ultimately served as a helpful readiness exercise for future emergencies.
“From that perspective, it showed that the plan in place is effective,” Forman said. “We got a good response, and things worked as they were supposed to.”
