Hours after Operation “Midnight Hammer”which reached the nuclear facilities of Fordow, Natanz and Isfahan in Iran on Saturday night, US government officials sought to clarify that the only goal of the Persian country offensive is to destroy the Uranium enrichment complex of Iran, and that Americans do not intend to overthrow the Aiatola regime there in power since 1989.
“The United States is not at war with Iran. We are at war with the Iran’s nuclear program,” said US Vice President JD Vance in an interview on Sunday morning (22). “I won’t go into sensitive intelligence details about what we have seen on the ground in Iran, but we saw a lot, and I feel very confident that we substantially delay its development of a nuclear weapon, and that was the goal of this attack,” Vance told NBC television channel.
US Secretary of Defense, Pete Hegseth, reiterated that the “successful” attack has reached only nuclear facilities and no Iranian civil or military man was killed. “We devastate the Iranian nuclear program without focusing on troops or civilians. B-2 bombers have entered and left the Iranian territory without the world know. This is not the previous management. President Trump said no to Iran’s nuclear weapons. He seeks peace and Iranians should take this way. When the president speaks, the world must hear,” he said.
During a press conference on Sunday to the US press, Hegseth stressed that the US had only one goal by invading Iranian airspace: to destroy the nuclear operations of the Persian country. “The United States does not seek war. This attack is not intended to change the regime of Iran,” he said.
