Before Climbing tensions in the Middle EastNew York authorities reinforced security at sensitive points in the city. Mayor Eric Adams said on Sunday (22), in a publication in the X, that he and the local police commissioner (NYPD), Jessica Tisch, met with international contacts to deal with the effects of the metropolis conflict.
“By precaution, we increased the police presence in religious, cultural and diplomatic places in the five districts,” said Adams, who also expressed solidarity with affected families, “especially our large Persian community.”
The NYPD has confirmed that it is “following the evolving situation in Iran” and announced the sending of additional resources to sensitive areas of the city. According to the corporation, the operation is done “in coordination with our federal partners” and will be maintained as long as there is a risk. “We will continue to monitor any possible impact on the city,” said the department.
