EVANSVILLE — A missing juvenile has been located in Evansville and a man is in jail after a Vanderburgh County Sheriff Office investigation at a local hotel Thursday morning
According to a news release from the VCSO, the missing juvenile was found hidden above the ceiling tiles at One Life Hotel at 2508 N. U.S. 41. The juvenile, and 26-year-old Christopher Gamble, of Evansville, were taken into custody Thursday.
Deputies were first dispatched to a report of a missing juvenile on June 21 that led them to One Life Hotel on Thursday. Around 5 a.m. Thursday, deputies knocked on the door and a girl matching the juvenile’s description “briefly opened the door before quickly closing it,” according to the news release.
“Deputies remained on scene and continued efforts to make contact,” the release states. “After a period of time, a male opened the door and was identified as Christopher Gamble.”
According to the sheriff’s office, Gamble has multiple active felony warrants, including charges related to child molestation.
Court records show Gamble, now 26, had a warrant signed for his arrest last month on charges out of Spencer County, Indiana, that began pending in court in 2015.
In Spencer County, Gamble faced four counts of rape when compelled by force; two counts of child molesting with serious bodily injury and two counts of child molesting.
He is classified as an offender against children, according to the VCSO, due to the conviction in Spencer County. A warrant for his arrest was due to alleged violation of conditions of his parole and for removing his GPS monitoring device.
In Vanderburgh County, Gamble was booked on a parole violation, assisting a criminal, contributing to a delinquency of a minor; false reporting, correction to the sex offender registration; and other charges.
According to the sheriff’s office, the incident is under investigation and additional charges are expected.
