President of Mexico, Claudia Sheinbaum, accuses Elon Musk’s company of launching wreckage and pollutants in Mexican territory

Mexico President Claudia Sheinbaum said her government evaluates legal measures against Spacexby Elon Musk, due to contamination and wreckage thrown into the Mexican territory by rockets fired from southern Texas in the United States.
During his morning conference on Wednesday (25), Sheinbaum said that the country is analyzing possible violations of international law to file lawsuits. “In fact, there is contamination,” she said, referring to the environmental effects of launches near the border.
Spacex rocket recently exploded
- The statement occurs days after a Starship rocket explodes during a test at Starbase base, Spacex headquarters in Texas.
- The explosion generated a huge fireball, being another setback in the musk plans for interplanetary missions.
- According to Sheinbaum, Mexican authorities are conducting a “comprehensive analysis” on the impacts on the Tamaulipas border state, especially after the US authorizing an increase in the number of annual Starship releases – from 5 to 25 – ignoring criticism of environmental risk to local fauna, such as sea turtles and coastal birds.
