Historical day for astronomy! This Monday (23), the Vera C. Rubin Observatory revealed its first official images, on a day full of surprises. And the Look Digital News Transmitted everything live – with the right to the special participation.
The observatory is located at the summit of the Cerro Pachón mountain in the Atacama desert, about 565 km north of Santiago, Chile. The installation houses the largest digital camera in the world.
Named “First Look”, the disclosure event had simultaneous celebrations in several countries. Live do Look Digital featured presentation by Marcelo Zurita, OD astronomer and columnist, and Bruno Quint, a commissioning scientist, part of Vera Rubin’s commissioning and observation team.
