With the recent arm wrestling between Donald Trump and Elon Musk, a new protagonist can emerge as a beneficiary: Jeff Bezos. The founder of Blue Origin has approached the president of the United States, amid dispute over billionaire government contracts in the space sector.

According to sources reported exclusively to the Wall Street JournalBezos talked at least twice with Trump in June, while Blue Origin CEO Dave Limp met with White House chief of staff, Susie Wiles.

The conversations revolved around new space contracts and Trump’s desire to see a manned mission to the moon during his term.

Domain of Spacex threatened?

  • The movement occurs after a public break between Trump and Musk, which was once one of its closest advisers and whose space empire, Spacex dominates the sector with hundreds of launches and large contracts with the government, including a recent agreement of $ 5.9 billion with space force.
  • Although Blue Origin is right behind Spacex in operational terms, Bezos has intensified efforts to gain space – both in technical performance and political influence.
  • The company tries to accelerate the New Glenn rocket release schedule and intends to land a moon load later this year.

Behind the scenes, Bezos also works to reverse his old enmity with Trump, who criticized him harshly during his first term.

Today, the two maintain a closer relationship, driven by ties with Ivanka Trump, Jared Kushner and even an invitation to the Billionaire’s wedding in Venice.

Amazon, where Bezos is executive president, has also held strategic gestures, such as acquiring a documentary about Melania Trump and donating for the inauguration of the president.

With this, the spatial rivalry between Musk and Bezos gains even more political contours – and the board of interplanetary ambitions may be changing hands.
