This week, the Post Office communicated their customers about a possible data leakage, the result of a security failure identified in the company’s system this month.
What the Post Office informed customers
- In the statement, sent by email, the state company says that “we identify a vulnerability in our system that may have resulted in the exposure of personal data. For this reason, in accordance with Article 48 of the General Data Protection Law (LGPD), we are conducting this communication proactively ”;
- However, it was not revealed if there was even exposure of the data through vulnerability;
- On social networks, there are several reports of people who received the statement.
Vulnerability would have been discovered on June 13, but the company did not indicate which factors caused vulnerability, nor how many people were affected and what types of data leaked.

I received the email, now what?
If you have received the Post Office statement via email, it is good to take some preventive measures, such as changing the post office password and all platforms that use the state’s login. And always create large passwords with many characters, including special. This makes it difficult for criminals to discover it.
In addition, it is possible for scammers to take advantage of the situation and send fake emails with suspicious links and files. Always be aware of these situations and report to the post office and the police as soon as possible (see how in the official note of the company below).
