Indonesian government requested the creation of a rescue procedure

Monte Rinjani National Park is a conservation area. According to G1the visits increased after the pandemic.

The occurrence of accidents caused the Indonesian government to ask, in March, the creation of a “standard operational procedure” for search, rescue and evacuation inside the park. The document highlights the need for protocols to ensure the safety of tourists and other visitors (such as tourism entrepreneurs), and the rescue teams themselves. Even many accidents involve breach of safety standards by visitors themselves, including lack of equipment and physical unpreparedness.

The report also stressed that the increase in the number of visits has economic benefits, but also has negative impacts on nature – not to mention the accidents.
