Young man was located after four days in steep slope
Juliana, 26 years old and born in Niterói (RJ), was found dead on Tuesday (24), after staying for four days trapped in a tough access, without water, shelter or food. The family confirmed death on social networks.
The fall occurred at dawn on Friday (21), in one of the most dangerous stretches of the trail that leads to the summit of Mount Rinjani, one of Indonesia’s active volcanoes. The region where the body was found, known as Camara Nunggal, is located between 2,600 and 3,000 meters altitude.
The searches involved six rescue teams, two helicopters and even industrial drills. Adverse weather conditions such as rainfall, fog and unstable ground have prevented any direct contact with Juliana since the accident.

Difficulty in rescue and extreme climate aggravated situation
The operation faced major challenges: the victim was located about 500 meters below the slope, which made access to ordinary strings unfeasible. Initial information that Juliana would have received supplies was denied by her sister, Mariana Marins.
In the first two days, drones equipped with thermal sensors were unable to detect the victim. It was only on the morning of Monday (23) that Juliana’s body issued heat, indicating that she was still alive but still. A helicopter with a special rescue group was triggered, but geographical conditions prevented rescue in a timely manner.
