Iran plans to suspend cooperation with the International Atomic Energy Agency (AIEA), the UN body responsible for nuclear energy inspection after suffering attacks from the United States. The suspension proposal came from the Iranian parliament and was released by its president, Deputy Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf.
In his account on social network X, Ghalibaf stated that the AIEA, responsible for monitoring uranium enrichment levels, lacks objectivity and professionalism. According to him, the deputies work to approve a bill that would suspend the cooperation of the Iranian authorities with the agency.
Earlier this month, AIEA censored Tehran for the first time in 20 years due to the lack of cooperation in relation to nuclear activities. The agency also evaluated that Iran has enough official stocks to manufacture various atomic bombs.

The initiative to suspend cooperation is yet another action by the Iranian Parliament, which also threatened on Sunday to close the Strait of Ormuz – where 20% of the world oil passes – in retaliation for US attacks on Saturday. The proposal was approved by the deputies and sent to the Iran’s Supreme Security Council of National Security, which has the final word. The closure also depends on the approval of Iran’s supreme leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei.
Tehran retaliated the attacks on Monday with an offensive against the Al-Eude Air Base in Qatar, which houses the US Central Command in the Middle East. The base is the largest and most strategic in the US in the region.
Iran coordinated the attacks on the American Air Base in Qatar with Carean authorities and warned in advance of the attacks to minimize casualties, according to three Iranian authorities familiar with the plans. The base was on alert for attacks for days since the start of the confrontation between Israel and Iran.

Qatar reported that its air defenses successfully intercepted the Iranian missiles. According to the Carean government, the situation in the country is stable and there was no more damage.
In addition, Qatar has announced the temporary suspension of traffic in its airspace “to ensure the safety of citizens, residents and visitors”. The United Arab Emirates and Bahrain adopted a similar measure. Both countries are aviation hubs for routes between Europe and Asia.
