A 48 -year -old trucker died when he was hit by a load container who fell on the cabin of the truck he was in Santos on the coast of Sao Paulo. According to the Fire Department, gusts of wind caused the fall of six load containers that were stacked in the courtyard of a company. One of the structures hit the cabin of a truck.
In Santos, according to the Civil Defense, the wind reached 63 km per hour, also causing the fall of trees. The winds also caused damage to other cities in the region.
The state Civil Defense had warned of the arrival of a cold front in the state with lightning, gust of wind and hail fall at isolated points.
The collapse of the containers took place inside a company, located in the Alemoa neighborhood, in the port region. The Fire Department called the Mobile Emergency Care Service (Samu) and the medical team found the death. The victim was removed from the hardware and the body was taken to the Forensic Medical Institute (IML). The case was registered in the 5th police district of Santos.
In Bertioga, Baixada Santista, an event structure collapsed due to Ventania, in the Albatroz neighborhood. There were no injuries, according to the city.
The Civil Defense, municipal technicians and the company responsible for the work conducted a survey on site. Access to the area has been closed for safety. The city says that the work is within the contractual guarantee period and will not have damage to the repairs. The causes are being cleared by a technical group, which requested an expertise on site.
