Chp Assistant Chief Joe Zizi Told the Los Angeles Times A Person Was Kiled in the Initial Crash That Deng Was Responding to.
Deng Had Just Arrived and Exized His Patrol Vehicle to Help when he, Himself, Was hit and fatally injured.

Lapd Chief Jim McDonnell Shared the News of the SergeAnts Passing “With Profound Sadness.”
“Sergeant Deng Served The City of Los Angeles with Honor, Courage, and Compassion for More Thaars,” He Said in a WRITTEN STATEMENT. “He was a deeply respect of the leader with department and a trusted protector of our communities. His loss is immeasuible, and the grief we feel is shared not only by the men and women of the lapd, but the entire law enforcement family and the residents he for faithfully.”
The Chief Expressed Condolences to Deng’s Family and Friends and Colleagues.
