59% prefer to work on their own formal employment

More than half (59%) of Brazilians would like to work on their own, while 39% feel better when hired by a company. This is what a survey of Datafolha shows, published in the newspaper Folha de S. Paulo at the end of this Friday (20).

The institute also found that 31% of the 2,026 respondents are willing to work without registration if they receive a higher salary. By 2022, 21% would be up to abandon registration with higher wages. The portion of those who value a contract governed by CLT, even with a lower salary, fell from 77% to 67% in the same interval, while 2% declare no, the same proportion of 2022.

The interviews were present in person between June 10 and 11 in 136 municipalities.

The preference for working on their own is stronger among young people from 16 to 24 years old – 68% prefer to be autonomous. Among those who have more than 60, 50% find it better to work on their own, against 45% on the other side and 5% undecided.

Among the 31% that are willing to work without registration for a higher salary, the preference for autonomous work is overwhelming and reaches 85%.

In gender cut, women prioritize the formal bond more than men: 71% prefer to have a wallet signed against 62% of men.

Income segmentation makes it clear that those who earn less prefer CLT safety. Among those who receive up to two minimum wages, 72% prefer a formal bond. The proportion drops to 56% among respondents who earn more than ten minimum wages.
