Adaptations of one Media for another They are one of the most common practices of the cultural industry in the search for commercial success. Within this, turning outstanding films into series has become a recurring strategy – as the cases of “Fargo”, “Bates Motel” and “Kai“.

10 series inspired by movies
Alien: Earth (“Alien” franchise)
An almost ready adaptation to get out of the oven is “Alien: Earth”. Based on “Alien” franchisethe future series is already in a post-production stage and is scheduled to debut mid-2025, in the US, by FX on Hulu. Probably “Alien: Earth” will be launched in Brazil for Disney+. The production will feature 8 episodes.
The plot takes place two years before the events of the movie “Alien – The 8th Passenger” (1979), functioning as a prequel. In the synopsis released, after a spaceship falls to Earth, a young woman and a group of soldiers discover something that places them in the face of a huge threat to the planet.
The cast includes Sydney Chandler, Timother Olyphant, Alex Lawther, Samuel Blenkin, Essie Davis and Adarsh Gourav. Created by Noah Hawley, the series will follow the science fiction and terror model characteristic of the franchise.

It: Welcome to Derry (“It: The Thing” and “It: Chapter Two”)
Another very close adaptation to leave is “It: Welcome to Derry.” The future series will serve as a prequel of the films “It: The Thing” (2017) and “It: Chapter Two” (2019), Works based on the homonymous novel of Stephen King.
The series is in a post-production stage and has Premiere scheduled for 2025on the paid channel HBO, in the USA. It will probably be released in Brazil by the Max platform. Andy Muschietti, director of both films, is one of the project developers.
It was announced that the series will have three seasons, set in 1962 (Season 1), 1935 (Season 2) and 1908 (Season 3).
The cast features Bill Skarsgård, who will reprise the role of the clown Pennywise. Other names of the main cast are Jovan Adpo, Chris Chalk, Taylour Paige, James Remar and Stephen Rider.

Elle (prequel of “legally blonde”)
The iconic 2000 “Legally blonde” will win a prequel series. The production will be called “Elle”, name of the protagonist of the original 2001 and the 2003 sequence, lived by Reese Witherspoon. It is even the company founded by Witherspoon, Hello sunshinewhich is producing the project, which had its filming started in April 2025.
The future grade explores the high school years of teenager Elle Woods in the 1990s, before the events of the original movie. Actress Lexi Minetree will play the protagonist.
Other names confirmed in the cast are June Diane Raphael, Tom Everett Scott, Chandler Kinney, Gabrielle Polytes and Jacob Moskovitz. “Elle” is scheduled to debut in 2025 on the Amazon Prime Video platform.

Indiscreet window
Considered one of the best filmography films of the Suspense Master Alfred Hitchcockthe classic “indiscreet window” is about to gain a standard format adaptation.
One of the main names involved in the development of the project is the screenwriter Kevin Williamson, known for writing the slasher “Panic” (1996) and for creating the series “Dawson’s Creek” and “The Vampire Diaries”.
Production is still in pre-production, a step in prior to the beginning of filming. There is no official release date yet, and information like the cast has not been revealed either. Williamson will be the screenwriter of the series, who will be launched on the Peacock platform.
Launched in 1954, the original “indiscreet window” follows a photographer (James Stewart) confined to his apartment after breaking his leg. Bored in his wheelchair, he spends his time spying on his neighbors through the window with a binoculars, until he witnesses something that leads him to suspect a murder. Grace Kelly also star in the movie.

Lives in play
In addition to “indiscreet window”, Kevin Williamson is also involved in the adaptation of “lives at stake”, suspense and mystery of 1997 directed by David Fincher, the same as “Se7en”, “Fight Club” and “The Social Network”.
In the plot of the original movie, a banker (Michael Douglas) receives from his brother (Sean Penn), on his birthday, an unusual gift: participation in a mysterious game that turns his life upside down.
The screenwriters of the feature, John Brancato and Michael Ferris, act as executive producers in the series, alongside Kevin Williamson. The project is pre-production and has no set debut date yet.

Cape of Fear
THE psychological suspense “Cabo do Fear”, 1991 film directed by Martin Scorsesewill also become series. The project is original from Apple TV+ and has Scorsese himself in executive production, alongside Steven Spielberg. The series is still in pre-production, scheduled to open in 2025.
With 10 episodes announced, the plot follows a couple who have their life transformed into torment when Max Cady, a notorious killer linked to their past, is released from prison.
Javier Bardem will be the protagonist of the series as Max Cady, lived by Robert de Niro in the original movie. The cast also features Amy Adams as the couple’s wife, and Patrick Wilson, whose role has not yet been released. Both Bardem and Adams also sign as executive producers.
“Cabo do Fear” is a remake of “Circle of Fear” (1962), which in turn Based on the novel The Executionerspublished in 1957 by John D. MacDonald.

New York Gangs
Another Martin Scorsese movie is expected to gain serial version: “New York gangs.” The project is in pre-production by Miramax, with Scorsese himself confirmed as executive producer. There is no synopsis, cast, debut date or announced display platform.
Released in 2002, the original film portrays the gang dispute in the New York of the 19th century. Starring Leonardo DiCaprio, Daniel Day-Lewis and Cameron Diazthe film was based on Herbert Asbury’s book of non -fiction.

Rich
The successful romantic comedy “Rich Rich” (2018) is in the plans to become a series on the Max platform.
Acclaimed by audiences and critics, the film is based on Kevin Kwan’s book. The story accompanies a Sino-American teacher (Constance Wu) who travels with her boyfriend (Henry Golding) to Singapore, where she will meet his parents. However, she only finds out that her boyfriend’s family is one of the richest in the country.
Little information about the future series has been released so far. The project is pre-production and has not yet been announced. Adele Lim, one of the writers of the original movie, will be the showrunner. Director Jon M. Chu is credited as a executive producer.

King Kong
Disney+ is producing a giant gorilla series King Kongcharacter created by filmmaker Merian C. Cooper and who first appeared in the cinema in the classic feature film of 1933, co-directed by Ernest B. Schoedsack.
The project is based on Joe Devito’s “King Kong of Skull Island” franchise, an official expansion of the work created by Cooper, with illustrated books, graphic novels and multimedia projects. The franchise focuses on the origin of King Kong and Skull Island.
Still without an official title and no debut forecast, the series will have Stephany Folsom script and executive production of James Wan (“Invocation of Evil” franchise), through Atomic Monster.

Harry Potter
A Harry Potter live-action series is under development. Scheduled in 2026, production will be broadcast on HBO and will later arrive worldwide by the Max platform.
According to information, the project will adapt a book by season, totaling seven in all. Actor John Lithgow has already been confirmed as Dumbledore. In IMDB, there are also Paapa Essiedu as Snape, Janet McTer as McGonagall and Nick Frost as Hagrid.
In May, the HBO announced The names of trio Dominic McLaughlin, playing the protagonist Harry Potter; Arabella Stanton, like Hermione Granger; and Alastair Stout, giving Ron Weasley to life.
