One person was killed after opening fire at Texas Tech University campus police early Tuesday morning, injuring two officers with “non-life-threatening” injuries.
According to the TTU Police Department, officers were checking on a suspicious vehicle in a TTU parking lot located on the north side of the Jones AT&T Stadium around 12:45 a.m. on June 24.

During the interaction, the suspect produced a gun and began firing shots at officers. The suspect was shot and was pronounced dead at the scene.
According to TTUPD, two Texas Tech police officers were shot and suffered “non-life-threatening injuries” and were taken to UMC via EMS.
No further information was yet available, including the identity of the suspect.
A current investigation is underway, led by Lubbock Metropolitan Special Crimes.
